Is it my clutch ???

Hi ,
Hope someone has some wise info on this problem.
I have been getting a thump kind of sound when taking up drive after changing gear but yesterday when I was out I got a sort of shudder when coming to a stop. It pulled away OK but by the time I got home there was quite a strong oily burning smell. Also when reversing back in I got quite a loud knocking sound.
I know it's a bit vague but any ideas ??

My windscreen wipers and washer pump have also died on me but that is a different story !!

get underneath and see if there is any play in the drive UJ's - 2 on each drive

check under yer landy around yer bell housing area....could be yer rear crank seal has done a belly-up. also check fer play on yer hand brake drum.

I have noticed the handbrake lever did seem a little bit slacker than usual. I never thought anything of it but I will have a check there as well.

Where's the bell housing area ? I'm new to this game !

it be a big round bulbous looking thingy immediately behind yer engine. if u look from under the car u cant miss it. you will fing yer clutch and pressure plate inside of this big bulbous thingy.
