Hi everyone

Firstly i would like to say what a cool site this is, within browsing the forum for 30 mins the advice i found on Disco 2 Suspension solved my issuse. :)

Im not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here goes.

I have Disco 1 300 TDI that is currently listed on e-bay, it finishes on tuesday 19th april, i've been told that the engine alone is worth around the £700 mark, It's got 8 months M.O.T left to run, ok the tax runs out this month, but i am being constantly plagued by people calling me, offering a max of £400, if i scrap it im looking at just under £400.

I must add that its not in A class condition, it has it's marks and rust in the normal places, the back door refuses to open from the outside and other minor niggles.

But anyway back to my title question: Is E-bay full of time wasters ? should i pull the plug on my listing ? and advertise some where else ? ok thats 3 questions

This Disco was left to me by my girlfriends dad who passed away 5 years ago and with his off roading tales, he got me intrested in Land Rovers to start with, so in a way its a reluctant sale. The Disco it's self is still the way my girlfriends dad had it kitted out when he passed away. although all that will be removed before sale.

Any help or advice with this would be most appriciated

Thanks

looking at other disco's of the same year / model etc on ebay, yours should easily make 1k but you never know.

Think all them eagles and red stripes might be putting people off :p

I'd pull the ad and put it back on with a buy it now or best offer.

I'd agree but:

The Q plate may draw some reservation, but isn't a problem - You could just list it as an ebay classified rather than auction style - leave your number and people can then negotiate in time honoured tradition.

you're right mate Q plates do put people off, I've never understood why but it does.

Thanks Barmatt, the eagles were put on by my girlfriends dad when he had it and the stripes, the only thing i added were the BF'S and dare i say it? ah what the hell a two tone Diesal Train horn 120db powered by a compressor and 4 gallon airtank in the boot!!! :) although that has been removed with the locals jumping for joy instead of shock:)

Thank you for your advice and help. :D

no worries mate, you could always stick it in the for sale section on here.

The weirdest part of the Q plate i do not understand is: the chassis has no number but on the Log Book it states a vin/chassis/frame number, but when looking at the chassis the number has been xxxxxxxx out ?

Problem is nothing is fetching a lot at the moment and more so big thirsty 4x4s.
Check the ended listings on ebay and they are going for peanuts.
Thet are preety cheap on autotrader as well.
Spares such as engines anf boxs used to make good money but there are so many people breaking them now you can pick up decent low mile motors for £400.

Dunno who told you your engine is worth 700 notes:D But yes, ebay is indeed full of timewasters, just like the world in general. The bastards are everywhere:(

Thanks people for all your help and thoughts, i had a possible buyer pop round today, im going to risk it and let the auction run, but if within the last few mins the current price has not increased i will pull the plug. i got ripped off two and half years ago when the inner sills were replaced, the origanal quote was 250 max when it came back all done the bill was over 600 quid! I kinda regretted telling the garage that it was worth keeping for sentimental value, the garage that done the work has since had its name Blackened! :violent:

Doesn't look a bad car. My insurance company won't touch a Q car so that would put me out of looking at buying it. You can regularly pick up 200 and 300 TDi Discos with MOT and tax for around the £400-800 mark

Insurance was a bit of a worry for me when i first got it, but at the time i had v6 Vectra and a corsa for the misses on Admiral multi car policy, so i rang them on the off chance and they had no problem with it, even now its still insured with Admiral!! :)
