The colours changed - I know nothing about series 3s (and I'm still playing catch up with series 2a's). I only know that for my series 2a 1965 diesel engine it was meant to be duck egg blue.

Which ever colour you choose if you're putting it on an engine or parts that will get "engine hot" then you need to use a special engine paint. These usually are used straight on to bare metal - no primers.

I got my hands on the paintman's duck egg blue engine paint =>

The stick on the left shows the colour that I thought was too green - the oil filter housing on the right is a much bluer colour which I am much more ready to believe is the true "duck egg blue"

I think the HMG tin of paint I got here in Holland was probably incorrectly labeled.

Well hopefully finding the correct colour will stop the "why did you paint it green?" comments which would be quickly followed by "did you think Richard Rawlings would buy it?"...

If you are trying to emulate the colour used on MOD engines "duck egg blue" is a misnomer. The correct colour is BSC381C No.101 Sky Blue.

I've got a civilian diesel engine (from 1965)
