IS A CLASSIC RANGE ROVER AN INVESTMENT FOR YEARS TO COME, OR IS IT JUST GOING TO BE A TOY?

+1 enjoy it. There's alot of talk lately about which models will be future classics / collectables / good investments etc. No Land Rover deserves to be locked in a garage wrapped in cotton wool.

As said, yes in mint condition it might appreciate in value, used and developing a 'patina' might do the same, but you'd enjoy it a helluva lot more!

In keeping abreast with sale prices of RRC's, both specialist dealers at the top & auctions at the more realistic end there is no doubt that although the real money is on the early two-doors, the four-doors are certainly increasing in value, with the emphasis on original low mileage examples, followed by documented restorations. Of course they should also be enjoyed by being driven, the trick (if you are looking for future value as well) is to keep the annual mileage at a reasonable figure & MOST importantly keep the car well protected against corrosion. LR's idea of factory rust protection was a poor joke & I have my '87 Vouge professionally treated every five years with an annual inspection & 'top-up'

Thanks for all your input and i do think the classic has a place in the future for us all. as a toy as well as investment. as said they do need the keep up. on the rust side wax oil is a good one

Any RRC, whether a rotbox in a barn or a minter doing 500 miles a year will rise in value - history has proven this already with RRC's ................... In the early '80s I knew an old boy who would buy any Morris Minor he could, mint, ratty or rotten - everyone thought him mad - ten years later he was cashing in BIG time - RRC are genuine classics, demand will outstrip supply, prices will steadily rise = no brainer.....................

I take the view it's an escape from the jobs your lass will find you to do,
When she boots you out the house for farting you can sleep in it.
It's big enough to hide in
Too big for her to drive so you won't need to clean it.
Needs urgent attention when her mum comes round.
Can go across fields unlike her big brothers Astra when he is chasing you after he found out you were cheating on his fav sister.
