Iron Filings

Hi,
Anyone had problems with Stop Solanoid sticking.Have had to clean it twice now.Found nice shiny iron filings in it and dont know where they are coming from.Any ideas?No lack of power or any other problems.Cheers...

lift pump wearing somewhere? contaminated fuel/tank.

Ive heard of a few people had same problem... the word on the street is that clean diesel (low sulphur tree hugger stuff) is to blame it has less lubricating properties than yer good old proper heavy oil. TOP TIP put a magnet on yer screw driver and dip it into all the bleed points and see if you get filings out of em all,, if its not yer lift pump chafing,the injector pump is running on borrowed time!

Thanks for the replies chaps...will start with the lift pump as its the cheapest option...........

Its the hard facing coming off the cam ring in the injector pump,usually as a result of having water in the diesel.Pump rebuild time.
