Donegal man here. We're getting there
Hi guys, New Irish forum member here. Just out of college and working away saving for my first landrover. Learned to drive in a series 1 years ago!Jeez guys I've been.busy and haven't been on here at all lately but I'm delighted to see we have lads over here who love landys. Merry Christmas to all and maybe in the new year we can all talk and maybe look at a meet. I know a few good spots around the Wicklow mountains. And then have no problem teaching a little cross country driving to anyone who has little experience.
I have a freelander, haven't tried proper off roading yet.. Although its been up a very steep hill in deep snow I've done a bit of green laning and its pulled 60+ bags of turf in a mesh sided 8x4 metal trailer out of the bog for me.. They get a bad press on this site ..Jeez guys I've been.busy and haven't been on here at all lately but I'm delighted to see we have lads over here who love landys. From looking around on facebook it seems there was a meeting taking place this past weekend which I was unable to attend. Would be great to organise something in the new year. I'm hoping some kind folks might give me a spin in a td5 as that's the one I reckon i'll go for - depending on budget etc. I've read on other threads here that it's important to drive/experience a couple of td5s before test driving one to buy, as you will have a better idea as to what to expect or look out for.I have a freelander, haven't tried proper off roading yet.. Hello decymac what part of Cork are you living,i'm down in Clonakilty myself, only joined this site yesterday,am picking up my 1st landy next week tis a 90 1989Another member here from the real capital-Cork.I have a black 90 and a series 2a.Im also at a couple of long term projects ,series 3 v8.Whats the attraction with these landys? They are not comfortable. They are noisy. They have a crap heater. They leak every where.Every time I break I get a shower on my leg and yes I have replaced door seals roof seals etc.But I still love them, hard to explain. My teenage kids think I'm mad, they don't see the attraction. They think they are the nearest thing to a road going tractor you can get!
Will do!Keep me posted on this thread if there's any meets lads.. Went off the facebook this new years cos it was melting my brain , lol.. Would love to get a look around a few old defenders etc..
I will be there for sure unless something very important comes up (which I doubt)This is great! I'll keep an eye on the facebook group about upcoming events that tulipandthistle was on about and perhaps we can all arrange to be the newbies at the next meeting! Hopefully I'll have mine by then
