Hi
any reason we can not use 80W90 APIGL5 instead of the recommended 75W90? Will it mess the IRD up? FL TD4 manual 105K miles done.
Advice most welcome!

Presumably because it needs to be thinner when cold. The IRD oil is supposed to be 75W90 GL5 Full Synthetic;)

Hi Nodge
I am in France and if you know where nowhere is, I am in the middle of it so the only IRD oil I could get is Motul gear 300 100% synthetic sae 75w90 API GL4/GL5...... MIL -L-2105- ESTER. Do you think this is OK or am I going to end up with a box of molten metal..

On top of that it cost 36 euro for 2 ltrs. As I said in my earlier post it was last serviced in Greece and judging by what they did to the filter who knows what oil they put in the IRD, if they changed it at all.
Motul Gear 300 75w90 is what I have in mine. ;)

Many thanks for that Nodge, I can now sleep at night.
