Hello everyone

Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket adaptor to connect an Ipod to the head unit in a P38, the genuine land rover head unit.

I have to admit I am really happy with the factory fitted head unit and its performance so I would prefer not to fit a different player.

Any help and advice would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks

Matt :)

I have try about 8 fm modulators or wireless ipod cables with the cigarettes lighter plug they are all terrible ,bad sound quality static noise when you are driving so i switch to this ipod docking cable

It works very good the only small problem was that i have to unplug the cd changer, not a big deal for me because all my music is electronic

I got one of the FM transmitters(modulators) in Maplins, fitted it in about 2 hours to a similar head unit in my soft dash vogue se, works a treat, far superior to any of the itrip or cassette types as it actually interupts the signal from the aerial and replaces it with the output from the MP3. It has an adjustable signal level also so you can set the output level the same as the radio and CD.

Two problems though.
The classic has two aerial lead inputs, I just interupted the one giving the stronger signal and in practice this works perfectly with no noticeable interference.
The other is that in the classic there is little room behind the head unit for the aerial interupter and I couldn't get it back the full way into the din slot. It sticks about 1/8 inch out farther than it should. This led to some squeeks which I fixed with a bodge of wedgeing in some insulating tape. Small price to pay for tunes! I haven't done the P38 yet so I dont know if the din slot is deeper.
Let me know how you get on.
