Interior view mirror with lights from MGF

its ok found out its a disco 2 mirror

I'm not sure the addition of the D2 mirror is much of an upgrade. The auto dimming is slow and not dimmed enough for my liking. The compass is also pretty pointless, unless you're planning on driving across the Sahara desert.

I fitted an outside temperature gauge to my MGF mirror conversion, which I felt was more useful in the UK.

Love that mod you ever going to make a batch of them ?

I've had a few enquiries on making them. They're quite long winded to make, so it's probably not worthwhile making them as they'd be quite expensive.

You can make your own though. ;)

I’m good a soldering copper pipes them little wires not so :( I have the touch of a .......

Just read through this thread and noticed that you said that the FL1 interior lamps should fade out like they do on the MGF? Well the ones on my FL1 just go out after a delay. No fade.

I’m not too bothered, but the fading lights on the MGF and MG ZTT are a nice touch...

It depends on the load the CCU is driving, as to how pronounced the dimming effect is. Basically the more load, the slower the fade out. Mine used to fade away slowly, but now I've reduced the load by fitting LEDs, the fade out is almost a switch off.

Mmmm, odd... It's not a big problem really - but I wonder why mine doesn't do that? All the interior lights work (now!) and they're all with standard OE bulbs. May be I'll get a clue when I fit the MGF mirror to it :)

The MGF mirror adds 10 Watts or about 33% more load to the 3dr light circuit. So see how it looks after that's been done. I expect the delay is using a capacitor discharge through a resistance to give the timing. So it follows that the capacitance of the cap will reduce with age. This would shorten the on time and likely speed up the on to off transition.
When I scrap my MGF, I'll pull the CCU apart and take a look at the light delay circuit.
