Amongst many over jobs, I've had the intercooler out of my 90 (converted to 300tdi) and given it a thorough clean inside and out - the foam pad to stop it rattling against the radiator had perished too and I cleaned that off.
What do I replace the pad with though? I cant see it detailed anywhere as either an official part, or a replacement part. I've seen some google hits with people either saying they don't have one, have used something like an inner tube (!?!) or don't give details of what they have used.
People are replacing intercoolers all the time, so there must surely be an ideal replacement?
