Hi could anyone explain why the excess on my windscreen as gone up £60 just because i went from a 07 plate td4 to a 12 plate sd4.is it a different windscreen alltogether ???/

Is the new screen heated?

It's more likely to be that all insurance screen excesses have gone up, and you insurance is simply applying the new tariff, now you have changed the policy.

It is heated yes but so was the td4 but my question is is it a different screen. If not why the new tarrif if its like for like.A new windscreen is a new windscreen surely. Now if its a different screen i can understand it changing.

Ah insurance
Good rule of thumb with them is think of a man who lends you an umbrella.
Then first time it rains he asks for it back.

I expect the screen is much the same. It's the increased insurance cists that has been applied. Screen cover excesses seem to go from £50 too £100 depending on the insurer. Mine is £75 on my current policy.

Insurance has shot up this year. Apparently there's lots more vehicle thefts now, especially expensive cars and SUVs. So I expect your new FL2 is considered a higher risk than the older one it replaced.
and i thought excess was voluntry

Very few policies have voluntarily excesses now. If they do, the policy is normal very expensive.

Haven't seen that myself, though I tend to add a voluntary up to a what I think is a reasonable amount, basically so the excess covers the amount I wouldn't bother claiming for under anyway. Helps bring my premium down a fair bit and doesn't affect things like windscreens etc either.

The tax on insurance went up by 11% this year apparently.

My insurance want an extra £400 on the next renewal. :(
No changes from last year. I did have a stone chip fixed.
Will be looking around gain.
