Insa turbos Ranger or traction track tyre help

Right series 3 needs some new boots :), but limited budget of £400 means its probly going to be insa turbos, ranger or traction track, does anyone have any experience of these two tyres or know of something more suited to my 109, budget is low though :/ its my daily driver so probly spends 60% of its time on road, but it does need to have the ability to get down and dirty, crossing feilds and general farm work.

one other question is about sizes im stuck between 235/85/16 or 265/75/16 whats the better size to go for, idealy the bigger the better due to the low gearing issues but is there rearly much difference in height between the two, or would the wider tyre be a better bet. any help much appreaciated. its a series 3 109 200tdi with range rover diffs currently running nearly bald 750/16
 
My choice would be the Traction Track in 235/85/16 size. The 2 tyres are virtually identical in diameter, but the 235's will be better on the series than the 265's, as you will have more steering lock, and you won't have to fit wheel arch extensions.
 
I've got the traction tracks on my RR Classic in a 235/70/16 format, CarlV8 has the same tyres on his Discovery 1 in a 235/85/16 format. Weirdly mine are quite a bit wider than his (see image below, can only assume because they are remoulds the exact width varies?) but the 85's do offer a useful amount of extra ground clearance - we went laning yesterday and his diff's cleared some parts that mine were scuffing! But then I've got air suspension so can raise the body (if not the diffs) to improve breakover and approach/departure angles if necessary.

As for which to go for, I couldn't decide between the two and went for the Traction Tracks. They are noisier than expected, particularly at motorway speeds, but in a Series III you're probably used to that and not overly concerned anyway.

The Ranger's are definitely more road biased but other than the noise I can't fault the Traction Tracks, they've been great on road and have only lost traction when really pressing on, resulting in mild understeer. In the little snow we've had they've been superb, same goes for offroad too, no issues at all.
 
I have 265/75/16 traction tracks on my disco and they are really good,good on road,really good offroad and dont seem to have worn at all after 6000 miles,they are noisey on the road though but that dosn't bother me. Iv'e got 265's on my series and the steering is quite a bit heavier so i would go for the 235/85/16's.
 
personaly i would go for traction tracks as i had a set of the original bfg track egdes and they were amazing did not seem to wear out and i drove out to poland on them and still enjoyed bluddy good offroading so based on previous memorys it would have to be them
 
Iv had some dakars fitted today and im impressed with the looks and road holding quite noisy though. I offered all three dakars ranger tracktion to my disco but i couldnt resist the chunky look of mt but the tracktion track also looks good
 
Carl had Dakar's on his Discovery but swapped them for the Traction Tracks. This was partly because the Dakar's were 245's and rubbed, but they were also very noisy and not great in wet roads. I think he is a lot happier overall with the Traction Tracks.
 
I have got Sahara Turbos on mine and I love them, they are as quiet as car tyres on the road, no vibration from them and they are pretty damn good off road... They even seem to be wearing quite well...

245's shouldn't rub……I've got 245,75's on my disco and they don't rub
 
Mine are 245 and they do rub on full lock but only takes a few min to adjust lock stops and only takes a tiny bit off steering lock but most importantly they look awesome
 
Yeah, we adjusted the steering lock on Carl's but they still rubbed a bit and were very tight on the rear arch at full articulation, even with a camel cut!

Traction tracks would, I imagine, be a superior offroad tyre so if you intend on spending some time away from tarmac then go for them!
