Inlet manifold removal - TD4

Tried searching the forums but couldn't find any specific posts on this - I want to remove and clean the inlet manifold. Is this relatively straightforward and quick to remove?

I've replaced the crankcase breather and have fitted an EGR bypass, just want to complete the picture.

Easy - just unbolt it but watch you don't lose any of the orange gaskets that make the seals

Yeah it is easy to remove, but there's a few other bits to remove first.
I found mine a pain in the arse to clean, I suppose an overnight soak in brake cleaner, followed by a good vlast with a jet wash should do the trick?

I wonder what the purpose of cleaning it is - I can see improved air flow bit it's not that critical and won't it clean itself eventually?

If you haven't taken yours off, I would. Then you can see just how much **** is in there mate. I had about 3-4mm of **** on every wall inside. That's a massive restriction of air flow.

Yeh I have taken it off and fitted both the BMW crankcase breather and an EGR bypass - the inlet was oily but I wouldn't say caked with stuff - ah well may as well do it I suppose.

Thanks folks. Quite easy to remove, but a pain the arse to clean. 4 cans of Mr Muscle oven cleaner later and I think the jobs a good un. Bottle brush helps.
