Hi All,

I'm looking at doing a leak off test on my TD4.

The kits are far too expensive to use once, so i'm going to make my own!

Does anyone know the size of plastic tubing required, to fit on the injector?

Thanks

David

Hi Chaser,

The way i undertand it is that some leak off is normal.

Measuring the ammount of leak off on each injector, can indicate which one has problem.

I've just been reading a PDF at rover rons thats says that they should all be re-conditioned every 100k miles. I know that mine have not been done in the last 122k, I doubt that they were done up to then.

I might just get a quote on changing all four.......£££££££

Cheers

David

Testing with the injectors operating/engine running is for imbalance.

Testing leakage with the injector valve closed is a different test altogether as there should be no leakback in this state. If you do the test cranking you have to disconnect the electrical plugs to injectors to prevent them opening.

Hey I missed this one! Here is my kit but I can't remember the pipe size - its small!

The syringes are on eBay

I did this at the weekend - thanks for the tip.

I used 3.4mm dia pipe - Halfords sell it in on a card in the fuel hose section; cost was 4.49 for a metre  but I couldn't get it from anywhere else quickly :(
