I've searched for anyone who has done something similar, but failed to find anything.
And if there is, please excuse the following...
I've just finished removing my No4 Injector (FL1, TD4, 2005) because there was oil around the injector's head. After soaking the injector overnight with WD40 is popped-out with ease - thankfully.
The washer, however, was firmly stuck with carbon deposits acting like glue.
I used an 8mm piece of threaded-rod, bent for a handle at one end and ground down to a point at the other. See the photo's.

Easy-as-pie. Out it came.
I hope this can help any other with the same problem.

It's a simple & inexpensive method of washer removal.

That is an excellent idea, I had one stuck once, I used a long punch with a sharp point, tapped it into the copped and managed to remove it that way, but your idea is 100% better thanks for sharing ;)
 
In addition to what I wrote, the length of the threaded rod between the bend and the pointed end is 20 cm.
That proved to be the perfect length. The handle's length can be whatever you're comfortable with.
 
I have yet to mess with a Freelander one but always used a pencil twisted into the copper seal on my series Landies.

Guess what I managed to finally get round to doing today with all the time we have on ours hands now, much better than having a Virus on your hands :eek: i also had an old rubber handle lying about so fixed that to the thread.
