Injection pump

There are 2, 8mm bolts on the injector pump on the side facing the front of the car. One above the other. Keep pumping the lift pump by hand, undo the 17mm bolt on top of fuel filter until fuel comes out with no bubbles, do it up again. Now undo the higher 8mm bolt on the side of injector pump, keep pumping by hand, pump until no bubbles, do up. now do the same with the lower 8mm bolt. Turn engine over, should fire. if not crack the pipes open at the injectors, one at a time, while engine is turning over. If still no good repeat the process.

acording to the manual you need to use the timing marks on the fly wheel to time the pump up, but it will only go in one posistin cos of the way the drive gear is shaped, any ideas
 
The other thing that could be stopping it from getting fuel is a badly adjusted stop cable linkage. make sure the stop cable is allowing the valve to fully open when you push the stop cable in.
 
In his case probably neither because it isn't working.

You risk serious injury, blindness or even death by spraying diesel injectors as described. One good breath of the diesel oil vapour from an injector may cause permanent damage to your lungs, and there is NO WAY known to science to clear diesel oil or kerosene (which is actually worse) from lungs.

His problem is that his engine does not run.
Ergo it isn't spraying diesel at the injectors.
Reason is probably AIR in the system, or a failure or blockage of some sort in the injection pump.

But he took it off, so where do we go now?

It's not a problem to put it back on. you only need to time it if the engine had turned over in between it being taken off and put back on.

I test the injectors on me perkins lump all the time i know the precations, i have a proper test kit, as they get a bit tempremental.
 
That description of bleeding was excellent.

We should save all these good bits and get Slob to make them into a Manual.

"Slob's Jobs" we could call it.
