Injection Pump - Distributor Head O-ring?

Defender 300tdi

BOSCH R509 injection pump.

Slow yet steady diesel leak from distributor head area when engine is running.

Leak not coming from any of the injector pipework unions so I believe I should be looking at the o-ring on the distributor head.

Is there a part # for this?

Can it be purchased separate from a kit?

What about a guide for replacement in situ?

Oh, and I should mention that recently the defender has been difficult to start after being parked for long periods. Could this be related? Maybe air is getting in due to the failed seal..

Ebay for seal kits or your local diesel shop
BUT search it first as apparently it can be done in situ but the slightest bit to far and the pump will be all in bits

Just looked on ebay fiver for the seal, search bosch ve seal

Thanks for the reply. I took the defender to an injector pump technician who has experience with working on these particular type of injector pumps and he reccomended not to do it in situ.
He has echoed my view that it looks a lot like the large o-ring on the pump head that is the culprit.
I saw a video recently of a guy replacing this o-ring in situ and definitely a lot of care is required and a lot can go wrong so I will rather not chance it..

This means now I that I have to remove the pump to take to him for repairs but I currently do not have a pump locking tool to retain the gear from slipping a tooth or two when the pump is out from the timing case.
The unfortunate thing is that I just did the timing belt last December and that would have been the perfect time to repair the pump as well..o_O

Are those injector pump gear retaining tools sold individually? I already have all the other related tools so buying a complete kit would be a waste, plus, I am not located in the UK so purchasing a full kit and shipping to my location would not be very cost effective.
If I can just purchase the gear holding tool to do this job I will be quite pleased.
Any suggestions?

You can buy the tools fairly cheap. Google them. The pump place should have a tool, and won't charge a fortune to remove the pump, it is a quick job if you have the tool

The cheap locking kits on ebay also incl the pump removal tool, its the large black round thing in the kit, TBH never used mine just the timing pins.

Would bet theres a video or two on youtube
