Hi all,

I have just received a Polybush kit from John Craddocks for my S2a/3, in the kit there are two larger bushes, does anyone know which they replace? not been underneath to check yet and just about to go to bed.

Something else that is obvious about the Polybushes is that they have shoulders unlike the Metalastic bushes that are in in place, is there enough clearence between hangers?

Also someone mentioned putting longer shackles on (to give extra lift), not sure which Landy has longer shackles though, does this give extra lift?

Any help or advice on this subject would be much appreciated as always

They need to be a tight fit, that is what locates the axle. You can get them in, sometimes a jack helps, or steel strips to guide them into the hangers. If they are really tight, bend the hangers out slightly with a crowbar or hammer. Plenty of oil or grease helps them slip into place.

Thats great Turbo, I was going to call the shop to see if they had sent the correct kit, have you any idea where the two larger bushes are for?

Quite a good kit, it came with all new damper bushes too, only thing I dont like is they are orange, will have to paint them black I think.

Not sure about the larger bushes, not gearbox mounts or something are they. While since I have done a series, try and post a pic of them if you cant work it out.

I quite like mine on the 90 being orange, but each to their own. :)

Not been underneath as yet, just got in bed as am on nights, will try and check tomorrow, and if I cant see I will try post a pic but tried to put an avatar pic on earlier but it wont let me with my new phone as the pic is 256x256 so dont know if I can put pics up

I did these on my chassis with two thin steel strips and plenty of grease. For the front of the front springs, I had my mate sit on the dumb irons while I pushed the bushes into place with a bottle jack. It can take a few goes but is possible.

Thanks for that Blackburn, cant wait to get them in now.

Webley were you building a new chassis, I hope the weight of the engine will be enough for the job in hand.

Sweet 16, so it is long wheel base rear shackles to use!! Does this lift the Landy with no problems to props etc?

Take care with grease on polybushes. I fitted mine dry and just used a crowbar and some force. Fitted fine. Grease can degrade the bush and cause it to slip in the hangar causing premature wear. If they didnt come with grease, dont use any. If you must, I would opt for a silicone based lube maybe?

Hasn't been my experience at all, and I have fitted a good few sets over the years!

IIRC correctly there is a label comes with the kits that says you can use grease and oil. Metalastik and most rubbers are degraded by petroleum products, but not polyurethane.

Thanks for all the tips, I will give it a go without grease anyway.

Does anyone know the size of the nuts and bolts for the bushes, is there a kit for the that can be bought from anywhere, although the ones that are on dont look too bad, I have had experience when I have had to cut and drill old bolts out of bushes

Why did you bother? I gave up after the 5th time. Replacing them. Though they do improve drive
