Disco 1 Indicator issue

Hi guys,

The indicators on my D1 have stopped working - The hazards work absolutely fine. Am I right in thinking I need a new stalk?

I don't know from 1st hand but a mechanic did tell me when I got my 1st disco that the wires running through the stalks are very thin and become brittle and crack with age. It may be possible if that is the case to make a repair yourself.
