Glad I'm not alone.
Anyway. I've been tinkering with the indicators today. And here's what I've learnt.
- The tabs on the steering wheel needs to be vertical, i.e 12 and 6 o'clock. If they are not in that position, you can use a screwdriver (or any other bar). to between the two tabs and move them. Mine was out.
- The blue ring shoud have the slots at 12 and 6 o'clock too (naturally), and the third tab should point at the indicator stalk.
- The blue ring has got one blob inside it, positioned at the aforementioned 3rd tab. This means that when the third tab gets to position 12 or 6 o'clock (12 o'clock when turning right, 6 o'clock when turning left) it should easily slide past the indicator cancelling tab that's inside the assembly. This also means that it should cancel the indicators within 45º of returning to centre position.
-
My indicator assembly works perfectly when it's not fitted to the car, or fitted to the car without the steering column shrouds in place. In other words, the shrouds make it worse.
- In my video the indicators rubber boot/grommet is twisted 90º around the stalk axis. This has definitely not helped the cancellation confusion. Make sure your stalk's boots/grommets are not twisted.
- The whole assembly has got a tab so it slots into the slot on the steering column - there's not much adjustment. Maybe adjusting this a bit one way or the other might alleviate the problem.
And finally;
My indicators are now better, but it still cancels when indicating right and turning right. However, it now seems to stay on until the blob (inside the blue ring) reaches the canceling prongs.
I made a video and everything went well until I fitted the wheel and it still didn't work.
So, a bit of progress, but still not there. Frickin' annoying!
Thanks for all the input! Much appreciated!
