Hi there

I have recently bought a defender and i'm really enjoying the drive, and the reception from fellow defender owners. My querie is that I'm looking to increase the bhp of my 53 plate defender, and i am looking for some advice on which product to use. I have spoken to je engineering about their stage 1 product and to a local specialist who use jeremy fearne. Can you help.

Many thanks

Get it chipped and get a bigger intercooler

Both mods combined should see 175 BHP or more

Your wallet will be nearly £1000 lighter

Famous Four at Louth (Lincs) can do a re-map (chipping) and it gives it a real good increase in power and torque. Then try allard for an intercooler which is supposed to give a 30% increase in power. If you want a bit more change the hoses for silicone hoses. Next would be to get disco gears in the transfer box which will give you a higher top speed so your engine is no longer revving it's whatsits off doing motorway speeds.

I intend to get a bigger intercooler on mine at some point :D

Hope this helps

Has anyone any idea of the implications on insurance of re-mapping the ECU? I have heard of scare stories where if you haven't declared it, your insurance could be void in the event of an accident. :(

Also, does anyone have any feedback on Dealers' views on re-mapping and its affect on LR warranty? or

Thanks,

Phil.

If you have it done it's best to declare it to your insurance company.

As far as warranty goes, if anything fails then it has to be that your mods have attributed to the failure for LR to decline the warranty. At the end of the day it's your car, you can fill it with custard if you want.

The thing with Land Rovers is that once they are a couple of years old or older I bet you will be hard pressed to find two the same as they left the factory.
