Incorrect/Tampered Chassis number:

I live in Finland. I am locally buying a 98 defender but the VIN on the chassis seems to have a correction. The windscreen number and pedal box numbers matches the correct VIN on the papers. However, the VIN on the chassis (3rd last digit) seems tampered being 565 instead of 465. The rest of the numbers are correct.There is a * marked on third last digit "5" and a corrected "4" is stamped just below the 5. What could be the reason. Can I somehow check from the LR archive if the wrong chassis was put on this car and later corrected by them? Would it affect while selling the vehicle or exporting to US?
