that hole is what we had to winch into out of the hole we nose dived into and flooded the electrics. the first pull the engine was dead and the winch was under water

Spray the inside of the dizzy cap in WD40, fit the cap in place then smother the dizzy cap, plug leads and where the plug leads fit over the plugs in grease.
i did all my series trucks this way and never had a problem inc having the bonnet of one under a foot of water at Weston Coyney with the engine running, snorkel fitted of course
like you say a good coat of WD or the like works wonders and its amazing how they still seem to run under water,
when ever i think ive wet the ignition an have a miss fire i find its a couple of plug leads have come off not a damp problem
No8 & no7 are close to the bulk head and keep coming off
Ive found my running problem as while under water my home made intake let some muck into the carb blocking a main jet so it was only running on one choke, it wasnt miss firing it just sounded like a strangled 4 cylinder
The other problem was the winch on full pull was using all the electric and not leaving enough for the motor
All good fun though
