Like most other traditional diesel pumped engines then.The "lift pump" on the L Series is a hand operated bulb by the jack under the bonnet - that primes the system and the main HP pump does everything after that.

The lesson is, read the replies before starting the workI've taken out what is supposed to be a pump but doesn't look like a pump ,its just the float and pipes for fuel in and out .
I wondered that one myself.And the question is, why do you need to get to a pump that doesn't exist?
