Hey!

So I was thinking of making a few changes to my Freelander 1 V6.

What are the options for making the V6 well sound better!?

Any tips advice appreciated.

Alex

Buy a V8 :)

But seriously, if you wish to make it more throaty and don't mind splashing some cash, go get a custom stainless steel exhaust. They can tune them to your requirements, within reason.

Or, if your skint. Remove any baffles or resonators in or around the air box.

V8! Lol! Any exhausts that people have fitter that can be recommended? Also will fitting a muffler make any change to the sound?

Make a straight through rear silencer. There's a small stainless box made by a former LZ member on sale somewhere, that will do what you need. It'll add about 5 BHP into the mix too. Then make up a decent intake with a performance intake designed for the MG ZS180 /ZT190. This will unleash another 5 BHP and give you a nice induction noise. ;)

Any exhaust recommendations and/or garages that will do it in South East UK?
Where abouts in the South East?
There's a good place in Redhill, Surrey. They will make up what you need.
Basically you need a straight through silencer system but it will need 2 large silencers or 2 small and 1 large or noise will be a problem. The system also needs to follow the factory route and don't go for the silly wheel barrow twin pipe arrangement that often gets fitted. They look daft imho and don't add anything useful in terms of power or subtleness to the sound.

Thanks! Anywhere near London would be OK. Thanks for the tip - do you know the name of the place?

Cheerybombs are total sh&te !

Boy racer cr&p ////// ignore like the proverbial plague - unless of course - you have a baseball cap and a Saxo ------------ seriously - total pants. utter absolute Chav fodder... :(
Absolutely.

Had a straight through ss exhaust fitted to my V6. It improved the sound but it was more raspy than throaty . Couldn't really notice from inside the car, but my other half said she knew when I was on my way to her and also had plenty of comments from people asking what was under the bonnet due to sound it must have made. You can find it on YouTube being raced by the Race2Recovery team.Search Race2Recovery Meeting 6 Walters Arena 2014. You can hear it's more of a rasp than a grunt. Monte Carlo Blue, reg.X622FWP. Sure he rips the exhaust off at some point too !!
