From 1998? More likely a p38 GEMS. I would think. Although the diesels seem to suffer loss of sync from EMS to BECM more.

and on the subject of immobilised have a dead l322 just come into my possession for spares, it is unlocked but no keys anyone want to tell me how to release steering lock without said key
