Hi everyone

I'm looking for suggestions based on the experience..

I'd like an immobiliser installed on my FL2. It is a FL2 sd4 auto 13 plate.

For clarity this would be in addition to what the vehicle has as standard.

Any thoughtful suggestions and comments welcomed and thanks in advance,
Cheers James

Great banter

I would've thought its fairly obvious, as it's easy to steal
Not as easy as other LR’s of a similar age 😉

My one is a MY2009, which needs the key physically in the dock on the dash to start. I think the newer ones don’t need this, so may be slightly more at risk.

Why not just use a steering wheel lock if you are that concerned?

Not sure why Freelanders would be 'targets' for theft.

They have little value and parts are cheap. Plenty being auctioned for nothing because they have been crashed.

I'm sure the standard security provided in Freelander is more than adequate to stop opportune thieves.

Replace the locking wheel nuts with regular ones, at least then when they nick the most valuable bits, the rest will still be sitting on bricks.

The FL2 is one of the most secure LRs available, much better than the keyless entry LRs. The FL2 must have the key in the vehicle to start, which is more secure than later models. Also the vehicle needs the remote to open car, so it can't be opened without the alarm sounding, which makes it an unlikely target for theft.

If you really want to add to the security, then it's possible to go to one of the security installation specialists around the country.

Later FL2 are keyless entry.

Steering wheel locks are useless.

I was hoping for some suggestions about specific immobilisers

Try Autowatch ghost 2 immobiliser.

Or fit a good old fashioned hidden kill switch.
I only takes a half decent scan tool for thieves to be able to program new keys to it and steal it if they want to.
But scan tools can’t stop or find a kill switch.

All my old classics, used to add a simple 2 pole switch so that the switch in isolate position stopped cranking and sounded horn when cranked !

You can't stop them breaking in but can stop a drive away and also make a lot of noise !

Should be simple with a switch and a relay. Even a key switch ?
