Hi,
I have a Freelander TD4 that wont start. A kind man with a box of tricks came by and told me that the fuel pump was not on and that the immobiliser had shut it off for some reason. Then he said he could not help any further and went away.
I have tried opening all doors and closing them, inserting just the key which is not on a bunch of keys. Trying to start it with all the doors locked. Checked fuses and all are OK. As lots of you naslo have, I only have one key now.
Other than burn it is there any other options I can try before I have to send it to Landrover so I can get well and truly ripped off. If I do any idea on cost?

If the engine is turning over then it isn't immobilised. Have a look on the front chassis rail. (I think it's the passenger side). There should be a fuel regulator. Pull the wire off it. Try starting it then. If it starts then you need a new low pressure fuel pump. Also check the fuel cut off switch (inertia switch) in the engine bay.

Another thing to check is the connector on the injector rail. If it is green or brown, clean it up and re-fit it. It's another common fault.
 
First time my TD4 let me down - after 6 years and nearly 100,000 miles mind.
It wouldn't start, turned the key and absolutely nothing happened, all electrics on but engine would not turn! Little recovery man came out and diagnosed the immobilizer and took it home on back of recovery truck!
Turned out to be the thin wire on the starter motor had come slightly loose, pushed this home and it started instantly!
Still does it every now and then but an easy fix!
Might be worth a try!
