I'm going to drive from Cape Town back to my home in Warwick in a Land Rover! You maybe thinking "Wow, sounds great" but I have zero knowledge about Landrovers, zero knowledge about how they work, in fact I've never even been in one!

Now, after you have all picked yourselves off the floor I do have 3 things going from me! 1 – I have done a bit of backpacking round Africa. 2 – I have time to learn, as we are not planning to go for about 3 or 4 years. 3 – I really, really, really need to do this! Oh and the person I’m going with speaks five languages.

I need to learn a lot about Land Rovers (No kidding Sherlock!). I am thinking of buying a Defender 90 now and using it as a practice vehicle to ‘tinker’ with and, of course, drive it as my everyday vehicle. Then, with about a year before the trip, get a 110 and seriously equip it for the trip.

Questions.
Is a 90 exactly the same as a 110 but shorter?
Is there anyone out there who has also done something similar?
Is there anyone in the Warwick area who needs a good laugh, oh and could possibly be on hand for a quick tip!

Be gentle with me I’m new to your world!
