I'm new, help needed on water pump pulley

Hi, I'm new here and wundering if you guy's could help me out. A month ago I sold my 1998 Defender 90 and bought an 1995 RRC with airco, a son is on the way

A few days later there is a smell in the car and the carpets left and right are soaking wet. Conclusion: Heater broken: Right??
I connected the 2 pipes that went in the heater so I could drive in the meantime.

2 days later the pulley in front of the waterpump starts screaming. I thought it was the pump itself but I had it replaced and te screaming remains. What can be wrong? the axle of the pulley? Do I need an new pulley?
Is this pulley easy to replace?

are yer sure its not the belt that is slack or worn?

Are you asking the question, is it my heater?

It could just be the old age problem of the membrane in the doors letting water past the door cards and dripping in to the floor.

Or it could be the door seals are worn. Do a hose pipe test if it is not the heater and se where the water comes in.

The bearings are not normally the problem with the water pump tensioner, it is most likley the tensioner has been pushed on the arm too far and now the belt is not running true. Look at the belt from above and you should notice straight away if it is not running true.

everything was ok before, no leaks, carpets clean and dry. Suddenly everything soaking wet ...

as far as I know, the belt is running fine. When I spray WD40 on the middle point of the pulley, on the axle that is, the screaming stops for a few minutes

If it is your heater you should have lost lots of water, have you?

To replace the water pump you have to remove the belt and adjust the pulley inwards, the pulley could still have been pushed in too far or not enough, check the alignment.
If ok, take the pulley off the spindle spin it and feel for play or roughness. If there is any play or roughness then you will need a new one. If no play or wear, spray copious amounts of WD40 around the bearing area and also apply some grease, refix on the spindle and make sure that the belt is aligned properly.
Also check that the belt is not worn, this will also give you squeal, did the mechanic put the belt back on in reverse after changing the pump?

I don't know how he did put it on. Should it been reverse??

I guess the best thing to do is put on a new one, right?
