Today, after 8 years, I sold my P38.
I escaped once before when I sold the LSE, but relapsed after 3 weeks (after several helpful souls on here warned me I would) when I bought the P38.
So after more than 15 years, I no longer suffer from the disease of owning a LR vehicle.
This time there will be no relapse - I guarantee it.
Over the last 2 years I've done about 300 miles, fixed various niggles, only for other niggles to appear. Over the last 6 months, the sunroof and the Clarion ICE have stopped working for no discernable reason, the windscreen has a crack, and 2 weeks ago the water pump started making " my bearing is going to explode very soon" noises.
This is on top of the ongoing issues of the intermittently noisy OS wheel bearing, bypassed heater matrix (O rings again), aircon needing re-gassing after rad replacement and then a leaky port valve, rusted through tailgate strap, etc, etc.
As I'm now semi retired I have the time and probably the money to throw at it, but I simply CBA. I'm too old to be grovelling about under cars. I won't miss it.
Compare & contrast with our 12 yr old Honda CRV zetec - in four years and 10k miles the ONLY thing that's gone wrong with it is a worn aircon clutch - £45 and 3 hrs to fix.
What I WILL miss is this place.
I've just read through the 10 pages of my 360 posts over the years.
The help and knowledge and generosity of spirit, the p*ss-taking, banter, jokes, sympathy, sarcasm, the merciless ribbing and the sense of communal pain have been a joy and I thank you all.
I'd also like to thank my agent, my family . . . sh*t, sorry - wrong speech.
I hope to continue lurking to try and repay some of the help I've received in the past.
Anyone want to buy a gems Nanocom evolution?
Alastair
