Hi all, I'm Matt (from Ashford Kent). I'm hoping my Range Rover Sport TD6 (09 plate) will not be frowned upon (too much) among you Landy owners and mud-pluggers? It's true, the farthest mine goes off-road is the occasional (very occasional) bump up the kerb.

Is it too soon to pick a brain or two regarding a dashboard warning light (it bongs and flashes intermittently) The handbook suggests its something to do with the 'anti-tilt' or levelling? Other than the bulb being lit nothing seems to happen when driving. However, when it does flash I turn OFF the ignition and turn it ON again and the warning light disappears. (see the warning bulb at bottom of pic). On a trip at the weekend from Kent to London it flashed just once. It usually happens if I'm in a tight(ish) turn to the left or right, seldom, if ever, on the straight and flat. Any suggestions of help or advice would be kindly received.
Regards to all

hi and welcome to the asylum

D3 owner here , we both have the same chassis and suspension system , lol

not sure my diagnostic reader would work on urs

here are a few things to check first

1 ) check the battery voltage , 12.7 Vdc when standing , 14.7Vdc engine running
2) check ur rear brake light are working ok
3) have u got the 4x4 info screen , if so , pull up the off road screen and look at the sensors, they should all be in the white lines, drive and see if the error comes up and if any turn red , if can indicate a fault height sensor

however due to the complexity of these vehicles u really need to get a diagnostic reader plugged in, plse try the basic things above and let us know how u get on

here's also a pic of the info screen u need to display

hope that helps abit

ps, there is also a range rover section

Cheers gstuart - yes, on idle we have all 4 white lines as you said (exact screen as you posted). What i did was to sharply turn the car left (to make the warning light show) and then checked my screen. Again all 4 white lines indicate all's well!?!? Again I had to turn off ignition and start up again to clear warning light. Checked all our lights, and confirm all working. Do not know how to check the voltage though even if I had the meter .
However, you are right and I've taken your advice, it needs a professional diagnostic and we've booked in for tomorrow a.m. Will advise you to the engineers comments. Thanks for your advice. Matt

hi matt

glad to have been of use

with a multimeter , u set it onto volts dc , then put each lead onto the battery to get the volts with the engine off, then try it again with it running

so u can get a general idea of what the voltages are

please let us know how u get on after the garage code fault report

there's a good few of us that can help

UPDATE: Garage in Swanley Kent (not main dealer but authorised or 'recognised' by Land Rover) ran dyno, found a raft of old undeleted 'fault-codes' and cleared - then drained and replaced fluid and hey-presto, FIXED. Kindly they did not charge me anything on the day but I've booked car in with them for auto-gearbox flush+; and that'll be £700+ so perhaps that charge is in that? Thanks for your interest.

hi matt @flatpackmatt

hope u don't mind me saying but paying £700 for a gearbox flush is outrageous and ur paying nearly twice ove rthe odds

if u go onto the disco 3 forum and look for geoff , has a dot on the end of his name is a fantastic mechanic in edenbridge and certainally won't charge u that

was the garage Dakar by the way u used , i used them before and blimey they know how to charge

if u can't find geoff on the disco forum please let me know and can send u his details

what he doesn't know about discos isn't worth knowing , he won't rip u off as £700 is a real rip

once again hope u didn't mind me saying but when i saw ur post i was flabbergasted with the cost

i intend to do mine, but just going to drop the atf fluid out and refill it a few times with a few hundred miles in between

hope that's useful to u and plse feel free to pm me if u need the details

Hi Gary, and thanks.
Yes my wife and me were a bit shocked when the garage in Swanley (it was Dakar, as you suspected) sent us the email quote. We did think it was odd when they didn't give us a quote for the gearbox flush+ there and then but courteously suggested they'd send it by email. When we arrived home we opened it. Like you, we felt 'flabbergasted.'

However, as we've only recently acquired the car and studied the service history we could not find anything suggesting that the g/b had been flushed - and being an '09 feel it must now be in dire need. So YES PLEASE if you would kindly let me have Geoff's details I will contact him with the intention of offering him the work, and future work.

Thanks in advance for your help

Kind regards

Matt

Hi again Gary, please excuse my ignorance of the site and its workings. I registered to Geoff's site as you kindly recommended but sadly cannot PM Geoff as I need to have had at least 3 previous posts (I assume its a security feature) and being unfamiliar with his (and this) site cannot find how else to contact him with my query.
I tried to PM you too, but cant see how to? Can you help me further please? (i deleted my email address from previous post as suggested by yourself and other members) - I wondered if its against the site rules to post email address or if members are worried for my security? I'm happy to repost it (albeit temporarily) if it will assist with my enquiry.
Thanks again for your help
Regards
Matt

Hi again Gary - thanks for your assistance, patience, and past advice. I have now been able to PM directly to Geoff and at this time eagerly await his contact.
