not the same car i know but odd all the same

had a peugeot diesel in the other day that would NOT turn itself off with the key

it was the battery that was at fault, not enough power to switch the solenoid off, truly odd.

Hi.
Quite possible that you have an earthing problem as has been mentioned, it is also possible that your alternator is playing up,this has a constant live feed and I have experience of a short developing in the alternator which made all sorts of wonderful and weird things happen.
I would first as last unplug the alternator and see what happens if alls well then happy days its the alternator if not then it will be a slow illimination.
Good Luck

had probs with mine -side lights coming on on there own.ignition coming on when left in reverse etc.pulling interior light fuse stoped this.but turned out to be wiring loom through chassis to rear try unplugging on drivers side bulkhead at back of engine.being a1987 i assume had some chassis welding done

How did you know it had had welding done??:D New rear cross member.

Actually you are onto something there. Having studied the wiring diagram more closely, the circuit for the interior light also powers an auxiliary connection for the towbar. There are 2 purple wires at the back of the fuse box and the thicker one goes to the tow bar. THis is the one with the problem. I didn't look for where I could unplug it, I just cut it and the ignition lights don't come on any more and the engine is starting and stopping normally. I am not using the tow bar so will follow the wire back and try to find the fault when the weather gets a bit warmer!!

Now I just need to find out what I did when I was grubbing about in the back of the dash to stop the heater fan from working:confused:

THanks to everyone for their suggestions!
