When I replaced my ignition barrel about 10 years ago it came with a pair of keys which had the rubberised top forming the hole for the key ring:

Unfortunately due to incredibly poor parts quality the rubber loop on both keys as now failed after a mere 200k miles and 10 years of use, that is only 100k and 5 years per key!
Rather than getting a new one cut from the old one, which is obviously worn after that amount of usage, is it possible to order from the number stamped at the top of the key (red circle in pic), to get an off the shelf replacement?

Another separate question, is it worth getting new keys or should I be looking at a new ignition barrel? and if so how do you replace the barrel (I obviously have the keys) and is there a particular brand I want to get/avoid?

Try to find a local shoe repairer, they usually do keys as well.

My local key cutting shop (getting rare these days) made me a new key from my worn one, but compensated for the wear somehow, and l tried the key in the ignition, it worked but with difficulty so he did a bit more work on it, and after a couple of times it worked perfectly.
Then he made another key from that one so l have two brand new keys.
