Did this and hey presto not only has the key in ignition switch message gone but also my central locking now works on the fob. I was only able to unlock the car before, now works perfectly

What did you lubricate with? Hope not WD40 or the like, can cause problem. Contact cleaner lot better and I used smear of graphite grease
