L322 Ignition coil order

BMW M62 engine

Hi I joined this week.

I wanted to check some facts, to identify why my car won't start.

What is the ignition coil wire order? By colour?

Cylinder
4 - blue | 8 - blue
3 - yellow | 7 - yellow
2 - red | 6 - red
1 - white | 5 - white
[front]

2 & 7 have a ground to the bolts.

I think I labelled 1-8 in the correct order from front of engine.

Your numbering/colour code looks correct to the RAVE circuit diagram.

I would of thought coils were triggered by crank and cam sensors.

You mentioned in your other thread that you reset the timing, I have a feeling your problem is incorrect vanos timing. Did you use the proper tools to lock the cams and crank? Did you use a multimeter to set the vanos?
Also, it could be chain guides breaking up with the hydraulic tensioner unable to compensate. Was the engine noisy when it last ran?

Yes I agree but if I plugged the wrong leads into the wrong cylinders the sparks would be firing all over the shop when ports where open/closed. I Just wanted to double check.
