hi i have just bought 1994 range rover vogue
its lush my first 4x4 cant wait to really use it as it should being a v8 on gas should be fun. i have come across a problem that i have no ignition key and have had to take the switch off back of ignition and use screw driver i am thinking of a way in which i could use a switch but im not sure how to wire one or where could i get one from please please help me with some ideas as i love the old girl and dont want to get stopped by plod and have them poking around her asking why theres no keys

yeah did see one on ebay are they year ranged or will anyone fit any model i did see i start button option on ebay but not sure if it works or if there just stick on tat

p.s not stolen just key snapped off and guy decided to get rid of other part of key

If you wanted you could just araldite a flat piece if plastic into the switch mechanism and not bother with a key, Problems with this are

A: the police will be suspicious
B: If it get's stolen The insurance comp will want the vehicles keys

A single switch won't work because it won't activate the lights & deactivate the immobiliser. Or disengage the starter. unless it's a push to start switch. You'd need to strip all the wiring out of the ignition and individually wire the starter, lights, ignition module etc to seperate switches.

Lol thanks people for recomendations im young and full of ideas think im going to go with the seperate switch option with ali panel with them all on. look bit more rugged and off roading i think

What are you going to do about the door locks?? Presumably if you don't have the ignition key then your also missing the door lock keys.

As I said earlier there will be no way to stop anyone from stealing it. And you're insurance will refuse to pay out if it does get stolen. By the time you've bought all the switches and wiring etc it'll cost yu more than it would have to just get a new ignition lock. Also it isn't as simple as just fitting a switch
and pressing the button.
