That's why I am not after power , the LT77 isn't a bad box and its far from weak if you don't hammer the crap out of it. Basically I want an engine much the same as my 19j or a 200tdi , easy to work on , simple , no electronics etc etc but I also want economy , cheap , plentiful etc.

Those are really not cheap, even disco ones are getting dear, and I am under the impression parts are becoming hard to come by these days? Not to mention most 200's these days are way way over the hill by now.

300 tdi, still plenty about, easy replacement for a 19J and bolts up to a 4cyl LT77.

Yes, you can get weld on engine mounts from Steve Parker Land Rovers, they fit exactly, no need to move anything else.Does the LT77 sit in the same place?
