The OP has got a fred fre Freelander section where he's being helped to buy a lr Freelander. Others who want to buy one can have a look anorl.

I’m hoping it’s just temporary break for both of them. :(

I dunt be leaf the others that he’s gone to the udder forum with that clown guy
BB's gone for good from what has been said.

As for @Nig, funny how its the Freelander owners who are the only ones to spot him missing.

Him and you arguing brought me much entertainment :D

some topics here stir deep questions and there are strong beliefs of all manner, like what Freelander to buy or how many o_O

Nig will be back in winter when the garden sofa gets wet and stinks of skol perhaps

If they see him sat in his vest and pants in the front garden drinking cheap cider on his sofa he will be arrested and recalled to prison for breaching one of many control orders they gave him. He's a sensitive soul. The last time the council cleared his front garden by force he cried for a week. Neighbours rallied round to help him. Some rough sleepers donated their sofa and he was happy again.

They are quite good but don't tell no one. They also seem quite reliable for a landy.
Now too much pleasantness; remember they are gay and the doors will fall oft if they get wet and so on.

Interested in the Freelander 2 HSE.

What should you look out for when buying second hand??

Rear arch rust

i looked at 5 or 6 before settling on the fact i wanted a disco 3 ( it was an itch i had to scratch ) when you look at rear arches with doors closed there should be a rubber seal that runs down the front edge of the rear arch to protect it, these get old with time and fall off leaving the metal exposed and that's when the rot sets in, unscrupulous dealers just spray a bit of pain on the rust to cover it but it will come back, if seals still there peel it back slightly and check and all should be well and if you go for one with seals on that are due for replacement there less than £40 a pair

Arch rust is caused by the original rubber protection strips not being as good as they should be. LR fitted them to several different LR's models over the years.

They're there to protect the metal but they have a nasty habit of collecting mud and road muck, which collects and stores damp. The two combine to create rust after scratching the paint away.

The rubber strips tend to open up over time. If you mistakenly peel them away from the metalwork yerself, you'll realise they don't curl back to their original shape. This is because the rubber has a metal strip inside it. Hence when peeling it away from the metal work, it doesn't spring back. The metal strip inside rusts anorl as the ends are not protected by rubber.

Several options to solve it. Replace rubbers when worn with new genuine original ones or use rubber protective stripes from a typical automotive supplier. One which does the same job of covering both sides of the metal but doesn't have metal within the rubber strip itself. When you remove the rubber strip you need to carefully clean away the mud and road muck from the inside edge yer can't see. Feel round the arch metal with yer fingers and you'll feel the dry powder muck which needs cleaned out before fitting new rubber.

@Tactical Greensman In addition to what hIppo has said if you do get one that needs the strips replacing once cleaned smear some clear automotive grease on the arch to act as a barrier and if you don't end up buy strips without the metal in, buy genuine not britpart as they are shite and a bugger to get on without bending

Propper Freelander's dunt have hair suspension. We have coils. Less fuss and problems.
