Identifying reverse light wiring

Hi. I’m trying to identify the wires that go to the reverse light in my 1993 110.

Is it the black wire(s) going through the hole I’ve arrowed in this picture please?

(I’m assuming there’s a standard hole for it to go through but if not I would be glad to know! I’m trying to find the right wire for a reversing camera)

Depending on where you actually need the feed you may be better taking it off the switch on the gearbox. But it depends if it picks it up at the camera or the screen end.

Thanks. It’s for an Optimill reversing camera, the one that replaces the rear number plate lamp. This is the closest place.

The camera came with a little harness for tapping into the reversing lamp power connector but I can’t see anything in that bundle of wires that looks like it’s designed to disconnect. I’ll look again now I know which wire it is.

I think it might be easiest just to cut into the green/brown wire and join into that.

I looks to me like it should all disconnect. The reverse light should just be on a bullet connector.

You are aware that the black rubber tubes are just a Lucas double female bullet connecter that the wire on each side will pull out of (carefully) revealing the male bullet on the end of each wire? The grey one is just the same but it is a 6-way rather than a 2-way. Rather than cutting the wires you can fit a 4-way (LINK) and then put a bullet on your reveres camera loom to join into the same connector.

Thanks. I’ve never used the Lucas connectors so no I didn’t recognise them. That approach sounds good and makes sense.

Do I need a special Lucas crimping tool or is it a standard one, please? IGNORE THIS — I just saw the link to the tool from the eBay page you linked to!

The camera came with this ‘piggy back wiring loom’ that’s supposed to connect into the existing reverse lamp plug/socket, but I couldn’t see anything that looked like that type of connector last night. It was getting dark though so I will check in daylight.
