I have just joined Landyzone as I have been looking for an affordable scan tool for my son's Discovery 2 TD5 2002.
I found your post and have contacted Diagnostic World UK regarding their icarsoft LRV1.0. They replied---------
I have spoken to our engineers who confirm that the kit is suitable for your vehicle yes.
We have this kit in stock with quick dispatch here

Interesting, please let us know how you get on with it when you have bought one and used it on your sons D2 Td5.

Cheers

I can confirm that it's full of sh*t with the td5 engine management... i gives false fault codes and misses some live data... a friend of mine bought one(exact the same version) despite of my advice to avoid it then i went to him and compared codes and data with hawkeye and the conclusion is that it's not reliable at all... works with ABS and has very limited programming capability for the BCU, that's it

+1 ^^
Also there is the Foxwell Scantool at less than half the price of Hawkeye and Nanocom, which was recommended to me on this site and I have never regretted getting it, it has done everything I wanted. Try searching for it and read up on what it can do, before splashing out £400.

If you don't want to buy a Nanocom or Hawkeye, go for the Foxwell NT520 Pro.
I had an email stating they where on sale at 5% off regular price for June or July.

Works fine for me to!

Stanleysteamer, off course not! In total they have spend 4h with 2 people and 3 vehicles €485 the bill states there wasn’t any recovery from the mountain so it’s all covered by the insurance:)

Did think it was a bit miraculous what with all the vehicles and all. Still interesting to see what it all cost in the end.
Oh, one other thing, did you try to "air down" and drive it out? Seems to work quite well. I've seen it done on an old Allard stuck in a field in Devon and heard of an Australian mechanic doing it to free a stuck four by four out in the bush when the original couple couldn't free themselves, all on their own. She tried to walk out and died, the boyfriend or husband stayed with the vehicle and survived. The mechanic just let a bit of air out of the tyres and drove it out.

Stanleysteamer, sad story but yes we deflated them. New on the d2 not in terrain.
But we are interfering this thread ;)

We bought a Foxwell NT520 £130. It reads the DTC's & will clear them, but live data only lasts for about 10 seconds & them suffers communications failure. Has anyone else had this problem & is there any advice on why this happens please??

I dont know why but it's not OK, try it on other vehicle too and if it's the same call the tech support, if it works on other the problem is with your vehicle's data link or ECU
