Google it ...loads of forums will detail how to ....ahem...correct mileage on a P38, its 90's tech.

Isn't it time you actually posted something useful and/or helpful rather than criticising everyone else's posts? And I don't count your nonsense about the Rover V8 being a WW2 German design as useful!

Again, grateful for the info BBSGuy.

Moan time!!!!

Don't know what's happening to Landyzone lately. Seems to be so much more bickering, snide remarks and sanctimonious people posting. Added to that, the number of repeated posts by people who can't even get off their arses to do a search for well covered subjects...EAS, Overheating, HEVAC faults etc., etc., etc. plus those not prepared to put their location..are you ashamed of owning a Range Rover ??? Additionally, the posters who get the information and can't be bothered to update with a fix really p*ss me off.
I can see that a lot of members of long standing have not being posting for some time, okay, that could be down to changes of circumstances or no longer owning a LR car, but I can sypmpathise with BBS guys feelings toward the frosty reception he seems to get sometimes.
I like the laid back banter on here but sometimes I feel it goes over the line.
There is a vast amount of knowledge on here which is passed on freely and has, without a doubt helped many out.
By all means keep up the craic and keep the humour coming....let's face it you need a sense of humour owning a Rangie....but remember the prime function of the forum is to give, and obtain, support information together with having a community in which members help each other out.

The members I have had the pleasure to meet and speak to over the phone are a great bunch and fortunately are in the vast majority but over the years I have witnessed a decline in the quality of usage on here.

Rant over

Perhaps it's time the site moderators were a bit more active? You can't get away with some of the stuff that appears here on the Yankee sites.

I've Googled it, I did not find one that was relevant to the P38, perhaps as the font of all knowledge on this subject you should post a link. Actually in component content it's more 80's tech than 90's.

No criticising, just pointing out the obvious.
It's quite clear that you being a sheep just jump on other peoples topical arguments.

Get a back bone.

About WW2, I did some research on the V8 history and come across lots of evidence that the Buick V8 was based on a German design that was penned during WW2.

If you don't agree, then so feck!!!:p
It's only a argument based on information freely available.
If it turns out that there is evidence to the contrary then so be it.
I like the old Rover V8 and just interested in its history and origins.:D

Wise words gentlemen.

Do Mods not look through the forum threads - whilst mostly informative and good humoured, many are seemingly hijacked and being filled with bitchin and self importance

90's tech and everywhere on google. Open you eyes.

The P38 was released in 95 development was done I think late 80's early 90's, most of the chips in the BECM are 80's devices.

Post a link if you have stuff on P38 mileage correction I have found nothing substantive on it. Or maybe you are just bull****ting:rolleyes:

No, to be pedantic, development was done 80's and early 90's. If you know anything about the development time involved for the software, they would have had to be using 80's tech in order to have hardware on which to develop and test the software for the BECM. Look inside, it's all old tech by todays standards.

Technology seems to have gone backwards somewhat. The old school P38 system changes the mileage on the clock to the value held in the BECM if it is greater than that stored in the clock. My son inlaw bought a very nice 2004 Golf with 94,000 miles on it. However the ECU says 155,000. So it would seem it's easier to clock some new vehicles than it is to clock some older ones.

CAN BUS vehicles are mostly dead easy, I bought a second hand Renault Espace from a dealer with the same problem. got the real mileage and service history from the former owner LEX Leasing. Dealer was not amused but I got back the difference between the price paid and the trade book value of the higher mileage vehicle.

This was a private sale. But the MOTs are in line with the shown mileage. So it was obviously a reps car which was clocked before it's first MOT. So beware everybody, there are actually dodgy motor dealers out there. Hard to believe i know.:D:D:D
