Hi
As you can tell from the title I think I may have a major problem.
A few days ago my landy that has a 2.5 Daihatsu engine in it, started kicking out black smoke from the exhaust when the accelerator pedal is at full throttle.

Now yesterday I was out for about an hour and got home and felt a bit ill, so I thought I could have an exhaust blow which I do, but when looking noticed what looks like a large oil breather pipe (I’m no mechanic) kicking out vast amounts of exhaust gasses right under the cab.

So my question is are the two problems related and if so dose any one have any idea what the problems or problems could be?

Thanks

Which daihatsu lump are you running? is it def a 2.5 (inline fuel injection pump) or 2.8 (rotary fuel injection pump). There is a breather that runs down the sider of block for excessive crank case compression, causes could be worn bores or maybe a failed head gasket.
Head gasket failures are pretty rare but come with the tell tail oil/coolant contamination and realy bad starting.
I run both engines and the 2.5 belches black smoke and fumes due to being worn out but still starts ok.
Fumes must be bad if it makes you feel sick, could be time for a rebuild which can be very expensive, Daihatsu parts arnt cheap, or replace with a good lump (v8 time????)
Where are you located? could have a nose if you near??
