1997 Range Rover 4.0L, bought a week ago and brought it home and the next day went around the block tried out sport mode and got home had the truck running and slide the deck stereo out its aftermarket one and the truck died like it was running out of gas. It would crank but not start. Next day wouldn't even crank now. Key remote is synced with locks and shuts red light off for security but doesn't work the drivers door lock and the door lock key is different from ignition key with remote on it. I have tried swapping relays, interia switch in passenger foot panel resets, i jumped starter relay and starter works. I have checked all fuses, checked most plugs under dash behind stereo and under hood. It did have a after market car starter that I took out completely with no start after that either. Has air bag fault and 2 window faults, sometimes when messing around I see gearbox fault too once and a while. I also tried the eka code in door lock but like i said key is different than the ignition one so not sure if this will work and the stereo is aftermarket so cant enter eka code in the stereo.I dont have much cash so looking and hoping for an easy fix. I love the truck its beautiful. :(

Thought RRS first built in 2005...but a 1997 P38 with electrical problems a nightmare especially if someone been in the dash to change stereo...also fuse box is a servicible item...you got access to diagnostics?

Oh and by the way it's not a truck...its a fine piece of Land Rover technology with crap electrical designing

Type 31 1000cca 120ah is the biggest battery you can fit. May as well get one if your keeping it judging by your pic ;) Will still need a trickle charge now and then.

The rf receiver under the boot panel will drain your battery quickly. Disconnect the blue cable for now.

Windows need battery to stay set. From closed position, hold til completely open, release finger for 1.5 seconds, then hold close til it sets. Repeat for each window/sunroof

You need to be a bit more specific in your description of faults... the P38 needs a v, good battery once you've got that sorted come back and tell us the faults shown on dash... windows fault codes normally sorted by powering down then up...

Ok great, thanks again for all the help guys lol, What is it than ? A ford mustang :D

It's as much a Ford Mustang as it is a Range Rover Sport or a truck.
It is not a RRS, it is not a truck , and , in case anyone encourages you otherwise, it is most definitely not a bus. It is a luxury 4x4 vehicle, with off-road capability , and a mode called 'sport'. The 'sport' mode allows the revs to be held a little longer at a higher rate. A bit like keeping a manual gearbox in lower gear , whilst you pass another vehicle, for example.. I am sure some of the others can explain in greater detail, if you wish.
Little hint, don't ask people for free help, then get cocky, when it is pointed out you have no idea which vehicle you own.
Apart from that: Welcome :)

here is a p38 that works a treat and never fails.
