Ok ...It got wet today, so much for summer. And the doors have not fallen off. Drove it home from the dealer earlier and I have to admit I had a smile from ear to ear. Plus a slight swelling in the trouser department. Is this normal?

welcome there mate, good on you don;t listen to the nutters on here nothing wrong with a freelandy, its the morons behind the wheel who dont know how to use them or the ones who have never had one long term and just stand back and hurl abuse, land rover could;nt have been that wrong look how many they sold all over the world now, they work well, yes it will never live up to some of the other landys but that aint everyones cuppa, once you get past a few niggles happy landying...
