Can someone please clear up some confusion?

I have a 4.0l gems 1996 right hand drive p38 and I want to double check the firing order is right.

When looking from the front of the car, I have been told by one person that the front left cylinder is no1 and another person said front left is no2.

Doing a search on here also confuses the matter with some posts saying the left bank is 1357 and some posts saying the right bank is 1357???

Please help!!!

From RAVE workshop manual:
Firing order ..................................................................... 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
Cylinder Numbers
Left bank .......................................................................... 1-3-5-7
Right bank ........................................................................ 2-4-6-8
No 1 Cylinder location ................................................... Pulley end of left bank

Does rave refer to left hand side from inside car or from front?

Just found it.

Rave states: -References to RH and LH banks of
cylinders are taken viewing from the flywheel end of
the engine.

The front is the front, left is left until you stand in front turned around facing the engine i.e. backwards compared to the cars forward motion, left/right is changing, suddenly the left is to your right & the right is to your left. So left bank with cylinder 1 closest to you at the front is to your right. (Passenger side on UK right hand drive Vehicles)

If you could work on the engine with the hands behind your back not looking everything would be correct but you probably prefer looking

Which is all well and good until you move to the southern hemisphere and it's all in opposite hand mirror image
