How would you go about selling?

I just wanted to get people's opinions on how you would go about selling your Landy?
With so much theft out there, I m not sure how or where I should start 🤔
Where is the best place to advertise?
I'm looking at moving mine on. It took me 5 years for a full nut & bolt re-build, completed in 2018 and I've enjoyed it since then but having a 2 door truck-cab isn't the most practical of vehicles for me anymore and it's seeing minimal use.

It's a tough decision as I put my heart and soul into it, not to mention a lot of money. It still looks amazing but I think it's time to say farewell.

Any suggestions about how to sell would be gratefully received.
 
There are lots of chancers and scammers on FB marketplace and eBay although there are also genuine buyers on both. Car and Classic is a good recommendation.

So convert it into what is a more practical vehicle for you! I am in the process of rebuilding a station wagon body to put on my 110 hardtop now I have a family as side facing seats in the rear tub do not mix well with baby car seats! Depending on what you need you could fit a hardtop to it, and there are various options of side, front and rear facing seats if the number of seats is an issue. For me the whole point of these is that they are so easy to adapt to your needs.
 
I advertised in Car & Classic and eBay. I ended up selling to someone local who had seen it about over the years and spotted the ad on ebay. Prolly worth putting a poster in the window.
I had a dreamer say he wanted to buy it, he had a good look round it and test drove. I took a ÂŁ100 deposit off him and agreed I'd get it MOTd for him and we agreed a sale price. I typed up a receipt on my laptop with a couple of lines of sale terms we'd agreed on. Printed him a copy and we both signed another copy. He tried to get out of buying with no good reason so I just kept his deposit.
 
Unless you need the money, don't sell it. As per @dag019 above, convert the old bus to the configeration you'd like. With summer rapidly approaching I can recommend a soft top. They're a lot of fun and have highest resale values.
 
Personally I would meet in a public place and if a sale is agreed then maybe let your address be known.
You need proof of who they are, a real Land Rover enthusiast would understand.
No fully comp insurance means no test drive by them.
Difficult isn't it.

It is not as simple as fully comp insurance any more as lots of them have removed the third party cover on other vehicles. Wife doesn't have it on hers, and out of the three fully comp policies I have only the vintage tractor has the third party cover for other vehicles included.

Sorry, you are right, I meant full comp to drive your vehicle.
I sold my first Mustang to another club member who wanted to test drive it. He arranged temporary fully comp insurance via his insurance broker.
My insurance also doesn't give me cover on anything else. Back in the day almost all fully comp policies gave you 3rd party on other cars

How many successful sales have gone through this site?
I'm just worried about scammers and con artists.
 
It can't hurt to advertise on here, plenty of people have been successful as far as I know. You will certainly get some useful (and perhaps not so useful!) feedback. Obv anyone can join the forum, scammers and dreamers included, but there's also some large and small dealers as well as knowledgeable private buyers. I think a lot also depends on whereabouts in the country you are, regarding value and levels of interest.
 
I sold a Landy on ere to a (very) low post count member.

I guess he thought he'd have some sort of redress if I him spun a web of bollox.

Made no difference to me, I'm always honest in dealings which sadly seems to put me I'm the minority esp concerning vehicle sales.

I followed him for the first few miles and the poor chap looked terrified grappling with overdrive and no power steering

I bought my 90 after it was advertised in a classified ad on the old LRO forum. The seller was surprised at how quickly it sold.
 
Ive bought & sold on here everyone has been superb to deal with. :) :)
Also gumtree, I put the advert with email reply's only & take pics away from my house so it cant be identified.
Genuine peeps will email you & you see if they can write a sentence lol
