Did anyone see Dimbleby in the BBC series - How we built Britain?

Great presentation of our historical, architectural and engineering heritage.... and above all he was in a defender!

superb choice of wagon :D

i just wondered why a defender was a superb choice - why would it be better than say a range rover - coz he seemed to knocking up the miles - I would have thought he mite have preferred a bit more comfort - its not like he couldnt afford it?

Cos its quintessentially British!

Just wouldnt be the same with a Nissan X-trail would it?

dint say it wud, LR. - but then a 1920's Rolls Royce wud have given a british quaintness to the prog, my query was to a defender as to any other vehicle - ok - any other British vehicle.
I am surprised, particularly with Mr Attenboroughs comments on global warming, as to his choice. Maybe its one rule fur us - and onr for them? Maybe he believes a landy is a true green machine - wud be interesting to know his reasons. Maybe its just because thats wot the beeb provided?

but a brill programme tho.:D

Yeah man... a RR Sport, preferably with a JE Engineering conversion, just to make it extra silly, would have been a better bet all round ;)

Incidentally... why isn't a 2nd hand Land Rover greener than a new one? Best form of recycling there is in my opinion.
