Hi All,

Just a quick sense-check before I bust a gut on this...

My donor 110 300tdi is currently on stands, as I've removed the axle's for prep for the new chassis. I will be removing the engine, gearbox, and t-box shortly too.

Given this state of stripping - no axles, no engine or transmission, but everything else intact - is there a way of shipping it?

The reason I ask is that we're moving house in the next 4 - 6 weeks (it wasn't planned!), and if I could ship the landy as-is, it's going to save me an awful lot of "rush work". I can't imagine a way of shipping it that doesn't ruin the bodywork, but I thought I'd ask you fine folks.

The transport would be from Farnborough, Hampshire to Newbury Area, Berkshire.

Failing that I shall just continue with the strip down until I'm left with an old chassis to cut up.

I am envisaging getting hold of a couple of beams, wood or steel, a bit wider than the car. Fasten them to the chassis underneath.

Now look at what the transport is going to be. If it's a lorry, then it will need a crane or suchlike to raise it high enough - and similar at the other end.

If it's a trailer, and you can use ramps, go to B&Q and get 4 big castors - they have them with about 6" diameter wheels - put them on the beams and winch it on. Depending on the ground you might even be able to use skids instead of wheels, though the wheels could come in handy for moving the shell about as you work on it.

Why not put the axels back under the car ?
If you could see my garage floor at the moment you might not need to ask that! Haha!

I've spoken to a hiab person today after oldfogey's advice (thanks), so we'll see what happens.

I've always got the rapid-strip-down option in this back pocket.
