So, one of the minor issues with the new aquisition is the passanger door internal release handle doesn't work, so time for an investigation - also, there was a thread recently with a member asking how to remove the door card, so I thought I give a bit a How To to go with it!

First remove the screw in the door pull rear plate and then slide the plate over the handle.

Next, carefully pop the tweeter cover from the front quarter of the door, then unplug the tweeter wiring by pressing in the little locking tab and pop apart.

Unscrew the screw hidden under the tweeter

Unscrew the two screws from under the door pull

Next, gently pop the door card off the poppers that holds it to the door, so may stay on the door, some on the card and some may even fall on the floor!

Lift the door card up to clear the sill locking button and then off the door, remove the Mid range speaker wire before you move the door card too far!!

Here is the internal door skin, you can see a couple of the blue poppers are still in the door, remove these and re-fix to the red clips on the door card before reattaching the door card.

And the reverse side - note the missing blue poppers where the red clips are!

Refit is the reverse, take care to line up the blue poppers with the receiving holes in the door skin then push firmly home.

Replacing the tweeter cover, requires the lower tab on the tweeter cover to be inserted behind the door card, and then the cover to be pushed home against the door.

Boom, done!

Everybody has to start somewhere. Not everyone is confident when first tearing their car/ pride and joy apart, which is how it feels to a newbie. The first time I took a door card off a car I had a Haynes manual. This is just the 21st century version.

Well how lucky am I? I've just registered asa new member and the first post I see almost answers my question. I've just bought a W plate P38, when the dealer delivered it yesterday in the dark I could not get the central locking to function and decided to have a look today in the daylight. I found the driver's door catch was not closing so the door was completely insecure. After a bit of fiddling I pressed the internal lock button, heard the central locking operate, now the door is jammed shut, neither handle has any effect. Can I get the door card off with the door closed, or is there a way to open the lock from the outside other than with the key? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Well done , Saint...I just did exactly the same job on my new 4.4TD ..bit of a bar-steward of a job..as usual , easy to remove , ..the end difficult. You have to put the top metal trim in Last !!optional swearing ..some good YouTube videos.

machine mart sell a good tool for removing door card studs which if used with care will leave them card
as they are quite prone to breaking, and they are quite expensive for a little piece of plastic
